Nearly three decades after a young woman with a modeling and flight promising career showed ahead utmost value to deal with armed terrorists and their lives were sacrificed to save dozens of people, the biopic “Neerja” in its name is proving to be an inspiration for people, especially young people today, who were largely unaware of his exploits, his brother said.
“I’ve been flooded with phone calls, messages and Facebook messages from across the country and around the world since ‘Neerja’ released. It’s pretty overwhelming. The film was very well done and the representation of Neerja does full justice to its act of courage, “Aneesh Bhanot, brother Senior flight purser Pan-Am, told IANS here.
House No. 3727 in Chandigarh Sector 46, where the brothers of Neerja, and Akhil Aneesh reside, is aptly named ‘Neerja Niwas’. A plaque outside the door also mentions the Ashok Chakra, the highest peacetime gallantry award of India for its value, given Neerja Bhanot in 1987 the first woman to receive this honor.
