The deputy minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, announced today that Aamir Khan-starrer ‘Dangal’ would be tax-free in the national capital. Announcing the government’s decision, Sisodia, who also heads the entertainment department, said they have issued an order in this regard. The Deputy Chief also said that this is an “inspirational film” to promote sportsmanship.
“Dangal’s film would be tax-free in Delhi’s theaters, issued orders. It’s an inspiring film to promote sportsmanship by @aamir_khan (sic),” Sisodia tweeted. The neighboring states of Delhi – Haryana and Uttar Pradesh – recently made Aamir Khan’s duty-free film tax-free. The film, based on the life of the wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and directed by Nitesh Tiwari, was released in theaters on 23 December.
Meanwhile, the director of Dangal Nitesh Tiwari says that it seems a therapeutic experience for him to work with children. Tiwari made his directorial debut with Chillar Party in 2011, which he co-directed with Vikas Bahl, while his 2014 release Bhootnath Returns had superstar Amitabh Bachchan and child actor Parth Bhalerao in the lead roles.
