Aamir Khan makes wife Kiran Rao sing in Marathion January 4, 2017 at 6:00 am
Filmmaker Kiran Rao has turned a new sheet by singing a Marathi song for the second edition of Satyamev Jayate Water Cup by her husband-agent Aamir Khan. The special music video was filmed by the director of Sairat Nagraj Manjule, while Ajay-Atul composed the song. Kiran scoffed that she was made to sing the song on her husband’s “diktat” but said the experience was fun-filled.
“They made me sing the song in my husband’s diktat, I had fun working with Ajay-Atul and Nagraj, I was nervous in the studio, but Ajay and Atul encouraged me to sing,” Kiran told reporters here. The director said that it was her dream to work with the director of Sairat. “It was my dream to work with Nagraj. In an interview I was also asked if there is a director I want to work with and I said Nagraj. My dream came true, so I have to thank my husband.”
Aamir, 51, said: “I always felt that Kiran sings very well. She sits on the balcony in the afternoon and sings to me, so I thought everyone should hear her voice.” Nagraj said he was moved to see the villagers working actively for the cause of water conservation, through the Paami Foundation of Aamir.

The song, written by Guru Thakur, has villagers, Aamir and actors of the Marathi film industry who work for water conservation. The second edition of Satyamev Jayate Water Cup aims to extend the watershed management program to 30 tehsils in Maharashtra. In its first edition, the water conservancy initiative under the Satyamev Jayate Water Cup was implemented in three tehsils. The Cup is a competition between different peoples to see who can do the maximum work for watershed management and water conservation in the period of competition.
